4 Ways to Enjoy Charlotte's Great Outdoors

Lake Norman

Lake Norman is the biggest man-made freshwater in North Carolina. It's a popular destination for both locals and tourists, where you can enjoy art galleries, boutique shops, and restaurants. Additionally, there are tons of outdoor activities to try - from boating and fishing to biking and hiking. Remember to snap a few pics of the beautiful scenery all around!

U.S. National Whitewater Center

If you're up for something more thrilling, go to the U.S. National Whitewater Center and enjoy a host of outdoor activities like rock climbing, rappelling, whitewater rafting, kayaking, canoeing, and so much more! Or participate in the different competitions held every year to put your skills to the test.

Crowders Mountain State Park

One of the best places to enjoy the beautiful outdoors of Charlotte is by visiting the Crowders Mountain State Park, which is home to two peaks: The Pinnacle and the peaks of Crowders Mountain. There are eleven trails you can take, all boasting gorgeous scenery and home to various magnificent bird species. Other than hiking and bird watching, you can opt to canoe or fish in the nine-acre lake also located in the park.

McDowell Nature Center

Learn about the state's local fauna, flora, and communities by visiting the McDowell Nature Center - the gateway to the McDowell Nature Preserve. If you're keen to see nature in action, this is the place to be, as it is the oldest preserve in the country. Enjoy what the preserve offers by taking miles of hiking trails, participating in paddle tours of Lake Wylie, or camping at the McDowell Campground.
